SOUTHFIELD, MI – (December 1, 2021)

After nearly a decade serving in various roles for the Detroit-based grantmaking foundation McGregor Fund, including making history as its first and youngest Director of Operations and the only African American to hold a director-level role at the 95 year-old endowment, TeQuion Brookins will be departing effective December 31st of this year. The move, she says, will help her to focus her ongoing effort of strengthening capacity within the for-impact sector. During her tenure at the McGregor Fund, she helped steward more than $60,000,000 in grants to Detroit-serving nonprofits and has become nationally recognized as a thought-leader across the sector among her peers. Brookins will continue supporting mission-driven enterprises & social entrepreneurs as the principal consultant at her namesake fintech and business consulting firm - TeQuionBrookins.com.

Recognized as one of Metro Detroit’s 20 in Their Twenties for her professional accomplishments by Crain’s Detroit Business, Brookins has received unanimous support from leadership and staff at McGregor to continue leveraging her nonprofit and small business expertise to serve the foundation in a consulting capacity after her departure. This partnership, as well as leveraging her existing relationships with local and national chambers of commerce, the Metro Detroit Black Business Association, numerous nonprofit affinity groups and the firm’s business and nonprofit clients will create space for Brookins to further engage and support the small business & nonprofit community.

In addition to ramping up her consulting firm, Brookins will continue leading her own social enterprises, including the award-winning mobile sanitizing company Sani360 LLC, plant-based food startup Tasty Clean Eats, and public foundation Minority Freedom Community Fund, while volunteering her time toward various community-based efforts, including serving on the founding boards of Connect313, the C-Suite Paradigm and other mission-driven organizations. “All of my roles and ventures,” she explains, “serve as opportunities to fulfill my personal vision of disrupting the prolonged impacts of systemic racism on the Black community.”
